A smart TV is the most natural place to watch IPTV for many people: big screen, no extra box. Whether that works depends mainly on your TV's operating system and the apps available for it.
Which system does your TV run?
- Samsung: Tizen OS, with apps from Samsung's app store.
- LG: webOS, with apps from the LG Content Store.
- Sony, Philips, TCL and others: often Android TV or Google TV, with the Google Play Store.
How it works
- Open your TV's app store.
- Search for 'IPTV player' and see which apps are available for your model.
- Install an app that supports your service's login method.
- Open the app. Some show a device code or MAC address to link via a website; others let you sign in directly.
- Enter your details and wait for the channel list to load.
Older or limited smart TV?
Older smart TVs sometimes stop receiving app updates. A separate media player such as a Fire TV Stick, Android box or Apple TV connected via HDMI is then the easiest solution.
