IPTV stands for Internet Protocol Television. Instead of arriving via a satellite dish, aerial or coax cable, the TV signal comes in over the same internet connection you use for browsing and streaming.

With IPTV, picture and sound are sent over the internet as data packets and reassembled on your device into a smooth broadcast. Major Dutch TV providers use the same technology in their own set-top boxes. An IPTV service delivers those streams through an app on a device you already own.

After signing up you receive login details. You enter them in an IPTV app on your smart TV, media box, phone or computer. The app loads the channel list and on-demand library, and you choose what to watch.

A stable internet connection, a suitable device and an IPTV app. For HD, around 10–15 Mbps per stream is usually enough; for 4K, plan on 25 Mbps or more. A wired connection or strong Wi-Fi signal makes the difference.

Live TV follows a channel's broadcast schedule: you watch as it airs. VOD (Video on Demand) is a library of films and series you start, pause and resume whenever you like.

An EPG (Electronic Programme Guide) is the digital TV guide in your app, showing what's on now and next per channel. Replay (catch-up) lets you watch a programme afterwards. Both EPG and Replay are included with IPTV Live.

IPTV is a technology, and that technology is legal. Whether watching is permitted depends on the content: the rights holders of channels, films and series decide who may distribute their programmes. Always watch through sources that hold the rights to offer that content.
